Commercial suitability is expressed through use classifications — Class 23, 32, 33, 42 and above under EN standards. Higher classifications denote heavier traffic tolerance.
The classification is a floor rating on a defined test cycle; it does not describe the specific traffic profile of a project. A Class 33 product installed in an environment that behaves like Class 42 — dense point-load traffic, aggressive cleaning, extended service life — will underperform.
The useful specification checks three things against the classification: expected daily traffic density, cleaning regime, and expected service life to next refresh. Where these exceed the rated cycle, the classification is a floor, not a ceiling, and the specification should step up accordingly.
