Embossing is the surface texture pressed into the wear layer. When the texture aligns with the printed decor — embossed-in-register — the visual reads as a genuine grain rather than a printed image.

Embossing depth affects slip performance, cleanability and perceived quality. Deeper embossing improves grip and visual realism but retains more soiling and complicates high-frequency cleaning.

For commercial application the specification balances visual quality, slip rating and cleaning regime. Deep-registered embossing suits hospitality and retail; lighter embossing suits high-cleaning-frequency environments such as healthcare and back-of-house.
