Commercial Approvals Reset After July Spike as Import Conditions Remain Mixed
The Australian Bureau of Statistics released August 2026 Building Approvals on 30 September. The value of non-residential building approved fell 44.8% to $5.53 billion. That fall follows July's unusually strong $9.93 billion result and is best read as a reset from an outlier month rather than as a 44.8% deterioration in the underlying commercial construction market.

Separately, Drewry's Cancelled Sailings Tracker recorded 77 blank sailings expected across the major East-West trades from week 39 through week 43, out of 720 planned sailings.
