Shipping planning covers the sequence between production completion and site delivery: booking against a specific vessel, consolidating documentation, clearing origin and destination customs, arranging destination transport, and delivering to site.

Delivery basis defines who carries the risk and cost at each point. FOB — Free on Board — transfers responsibility to the buyer at the origin port. CIF and CFR carry it to the destination port. DAP and DDP carry it to the site. The basis is set in the supply agreement and should match the buyer's capacity to manage each leg.

Documentation is the most common source of avoidable delay. Bills of lading, commercial invoices, packing lists and any species or treatment certificates must be complete and consistent before the shipment reaches the destination port.
