FCL — Full Container Load — dedicates a container to a single shipper. LCL — Less than Container Load — consolidates smaller shipments from multiple shippers into a shared container.

FCL is faster, more predictable and simpler on documentation. It is priced against the container regardless of fill and becomes efficient above roughly 12 to 15 cubic metres of cargo — well above a typical display or small custom run.

LCL is priced per cubic metre and is the practical option for smaller volumes. It operates on fixed consolidation cycles that add a scheduling floor to the lead time. For display suites, sample stock and small feature runs, LCL is the correct choice; for a full project supply, FCL almost always is.
