Flooring installation sits late in the trade sequence — after wet trades, primary joinery carcasses, painting and services first-fix, and before final joinery, appliances and final commissioning. Compressing this sequence transfers risk directly onto the finish.

The critical predecessors are: slab moisture within tolerance, ambient conditions stabilised, building closed to weather, and painting complete. The critical successors are: skirtings and scotia, kick-plates and appliance installation, and any wet trade rework — all of which should protect the floor rather than damage it.

For staged handovers in multi-residential and hospitality, the sequence repeats per level or per zone. Programme discipline is what makes the sequence workable at scale; without it, the floor becomes the trade that everyone else works over.
