Manufacturer literature specifies an acclimatisation period — typically 48 to 72 hours for engineered timber — held in the space of installation, at operational temperature and humidity. In principle, this allows the product to reach equilibrium with the service environment before it is fixed in place.
In practice, most commercial installations are called forward before the environment is representative. Wet trades are incomplete, glazing is still being trimmed, HVAC is not yet commissioned. Product delivered into that environment is not acclimatising to anything useful.
The procedural workaround
Where the environment cannot be held representative, the installer records ambient temperature and relative humidity at delivery, at start of installation, and at handover. The record establishes what the floor was actually installed into — the reference that any future warranty claim will be measured against.
